The Coolest Guy In Montana Politics

Ed Tinsley is the man

Ed Tinsley is a rising star in the Democratic Party

Just as he’s done hundreds of times, Lewis and Clark County Commissioner Ed Tinsley grabbed the microphone as if it were an old friend. Click here to read more.

His booming voice filled the State Capitol Atrium, where an enthusiastic crowd gathered to kick off the general election campaign for U.S. Senate -- after a bruising primary battle between Jon Tester and John Morrison.

Tinsley’s was the warm up act that set the stage for a unity rally featuring hitters Max Baucus, Brian Schweitzer, Monica Lindeen, and Morrison and Tester (who is now giving Conrad Burns the race of his political life).

“LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!” Tinsley belted, kicking that crowd into high-gear instantly. Tinsley did his job well, like he always does.

His performance was typical for the man who can always be relied on to serve as a Party unifier. If you’ve ever been to a political event in Helena, Ed Tinsley likely had a role in helping put it together, Emcee, or organize the after-celebration.

After two decades helping others run for office, Tinsley decided to take the plunge himself when he filed for a seat on the Lewis and Clark County Commission in 2002. Tinsley, well know and liked throughout the county, waged a solid, grassroots effort that earned him a victory in 2002. He’s up for reelection in 2008.

Tinsley is now well respected for his work on the County Commission. Whether it’s fighting for access to public lands for hunting and fishing, working for the underprivileged, or helping boost dollars for emergency services, Tinsley is usually first out of the gate on behalf of his constituents.

A veteran himself, Tinsley is a strong voice for veterans in Montana.

Tinsley is a relentless advocate for L&C County in Washington, lobbying Montana’s congressional delegation for federal funds for important projects, including dollars secured by Senator Baucus to pave the Marysville Road outside of Helena. (yeah, that’s the Shane Hedges one)

Tinsley has been a leading voice in the Democratic Party in Montana, a rising star as an elected official and the state’s elected National Democratic Committeeman and MDP Executive Board Member.

Ed Tinsley brings great promise to this great state. He’s the most likable guy you’ll ever meet; welcoming, hysterical, and honest. And he’s a hellava fly fisherman, too.

For these reasons, and many more, I’m nominating Ed Tinsley as the Coolest Guy in Montana Politics.
