There’s Sen. Burns in front of a banner that read, “Making the Web a Safer Place for Children” (above). Sen. Conrad Burns sponsored the Senate version of sexual predator Rep. Mark Foley’s (R-Fl) House bill that ironically took aim at sexual predators online. Was this an attempt to whitewash Foley’s behaviour? Burns and Foley’s bill passed several months after Republican leaders were made aware of Foley’s preying on young pages in the House of Representatives.
So we ask, What did Sen. Burns know and when did he know it? We just don’t know. To date, Sen. Burns refuses to condemn or even comment on Rep. Foley’s behaviour. The silence is deafening. Get the facts here.
Montanans may not count on Burns or Rehberg for much, but we did expect them to keep our children safe. Republicans in Washington can no longer be trusted to police themselves on ethics or behaviour. It’s appalling.
Montanans want accountability for the Republican 'leaders' who had evidence of a sexual predator in their ranks and chose to cover it up. It is time for Burns and Rehberg to come out and say honestly what they knew, when they knew it, and why they didn't properly act.
